More specifically, for Valtiberina, we mean the northern area, that is the wide river basin of the Tiber that extends from the Montedoglio lake to the town of Santa Lucia south of Città di Castello: this is why it is also called Alta Valle del Tevere.
The last to contend these territories were the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and the Papal State. It is the homeland of Michelangelo and of the painter Piero della Francesca.
With the cultural and architectural influences of the Marches, Romagna, Umbria and Tuscany, Valtiberina presents itself as a particular territory, compared to the rest of Tuscany and very interesting from a cultural, tourist and enogastronomic point of view. In fact, those who stay there can visit particular towns such as Sansepolcro, Anghiari, Monterchi, true pearls of the territory.
In addition it is also possible to go to the Hermitage of Montecasale and to the Sanctuary of La Verna, the latter dedicated to Saint Francis, who in 1224 remained there for his usual periods of silence and prayer.
B&B Palazzo Magi, located in the historic center of Sansepolcro, is the ideal base for visiting the Valtiberina.
